Our March meeting was an extremely interesting presentation by Jane Kimberlin of Go Brazil.
Very few of us had any knowledge of wines from Brazil before the tasting started but came away well educated and not a little surprised by the quality of some of the wines shown. No one knew quite what to expect and we were surprised by both the quality and the style of the wines.
The wines were very much ‘Old World’ in style and there was a surprising variety. Most of the wines came from the main wine growing region in the far south of the country but some are grown in the equatorial regions which one would expect to be too hot. In that area there are often two harvests in the year, much higher production levels than anywhere else!
